KALM is specially indicated for those situations where the animals are Ander anxiety and stress: nervousness and agitation in animals, traveling, hyper excitability, change of environment, moving, new pets, or conditions that cause anxiety and restlessness. It has a calming and relaxing action and helps sleeping without side effects or lack of consciousness.
The individual sensitiveness must be considered to adjust the dosage, since it may vary greatly from the start of the or the lasting these extracts are safe for the use and adverse effects are rare and have not been frequently reported in animals or human beings.
The action mechanism is summarized as: The sedative action of the Melissa is attributed to synergistic action of a combination of ingredients, including terpenes citronellal, citronellol, geraniol, linalool, limonen and phenylpropanol derivatives, such as eugenol; while the valerian extract interact with GABA and benzodiazepinic receptors. An unusual feature of valerian is that the essential oil of valerian root is a cat attractant similar to catnip. The active compound in valerian for this is actinidine. Cat attractants might mimic the odor of cat urine which is caused by 3-mercapto-3-methylbutan-1-ol (MMB).
